Our students are embarking on a journey into the digital world. Are they prepared with the skills they need to be contributing members of the digital community? We need to shift our conversations about Digital Citizenship from a list of Don’ts to a list of Dos. Come to this session to see some practical tools on creating students who can wrestle with the important ethical questions at the intersection of technology and humanity. We will briefly cover existing resources for teaching DigCit, but the majority of the time will be spent on looking at ISTE’s digital citizenship competencies. More

In this session we will share expertise and work collaboratively to reflect on the work needed to build relational capacity with and among students. Participants will focus on maintaining and strengthening a classroom community that includes a safe and welcoming environment for all students.  We will also consider the physical environment, classroom activities, classroom culture, and connections beyond the classroom as well as identify potential roadblocks to culturally relevant parent/guardian involvement and develop actions to overcome those barriers.
